Marangu Route: The Marangu route is one of the most popular paths to the summit of Kilimanjaro. This popularity can be attributed partly to its affordability, as it is the least expensive route. Additionally, the Marangu route can be completed in just 5 days, allowing climbers to reach the summit a day earlier than the Machame route. However, this shorter itinerary may not always be the best option, as it offers less time for acclimatization.
The Marangu route does offer the option of adding an extra acclimatization day on the mountain, extending the trek to 6 days and significantly increasing your chances of success. One of the main differences of the Marangu route compared to other routes is the shared hut accommodation, which provides the relative luxury of sleeping in huts throughout the journey. Additionally, mineral water, soft drinks, chocolates, and beers are available for purchase at all the camps along this route. All equipment and supplies are handled by porters, while a cook prepares all your meals.
